1. Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the
university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division
which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. (This section is

The Coordinator, Family and Community Partnerships, guides the planning, implementation and
evaluation of the comprehensive infant/toddler early care and education service provided at Early
Head Start (EHS) sites. The Coordinator assures compliance with the Head Start Performance
Standards, Federal rules, and all applicable state and local regulations. The Coordinator provides
leadership, direction, and oversight for the Family & Community Partnerships components. The
Coordinator reports to the Director, Child and Family Research Center (CFRC).

65% - Supervision
 Direct the educational programming for enrolled Early Head Start (EHS) children at various
locations
 Supervise the daily operations and direct the work of classified staff, students, and volunteers
15% - Program Management
 Assist in overall program management
 Assist with annual program self-assessment and improvement plans
 Assist with planning and implementation of center annual events
15% - Family & Community Partnership Oversight
 Provide leadership for the Family & Community Partnership & Mental Health Components and
home-based option in UNR-EHS
 Direct the educational programming for families enrolled in the home-based option
 Coordinate the activities of the Mental Health Consultant to support program goals
5% - Community Outreach
 Participate in community groups that focus on issues related to children and families
3. Describe the level of freedom to take action and make decisions with or without
supervision and how the results of the work performed impact the department, division and/or
the university as a whole.
Level of Freedom:
The Coordinator represents the University of Nevada Early Head Start and CFRC on issues related to
infant and toddler early care and education. The position is very visible to the public through
interaction with students, faculty, staff and community members. The individual works closely with the
Director on decisions associated with the position, but must work independently and with initiative in
the job areas. The position takes action in these areas with immediate reporting to the Director.
Impact:
The work of the Coordinator impacts the quality of infant and toddler care offered to the families
enrolled in UNR-EHS and the resultant impact on the children’s education and well-being. This
position is visible to the public and has a direct impact on the perception of the University, the Center

and its reputation. Failure to perform could impact the safety and development of program
participants and jeopardize future funding.

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Minimum type and amount of work experience, in addition to the above required
education necessary for a person entering this position.
Bachelor’s Degree and three years of experience working with programs for infants
and toddlers and low income children and families from diverse backgrounds; must
include two years in human services program management and one year of
supervisory experience
