ADMINISTRATIVE FACULTY JOB DESCRIPTION APPROVED POSITION INFORMATION (to be completed by HR) Effective: March 1, 2015 Title Analyst, Computer Systems Essential Function: Light Work Range JCC 2 78408 PCN Description: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Light work requires walking or standing to a significant degree and pushing and/or pulling. 1. The Analyst, Computer Systems position is responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and evaluating all aspects of the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) Washoe County facility Information Systems. The position is the primary resource for the daily technical operations of the facility and is responsible for procuring equipment identified in the research and planning process, integrating or activating the new equipment, and training staff and faculty on its effective use which includes wired and wireless networks facilitating data, voice, video, and other media transmission. The position provides information for the strategic planning process and implements plans set forward by management. If line of progression, define for each range as above. 40% Systems Analysis and Operations Maintain and manage network connectivity and security for local and wide area networks in Washoe county, ensure proper security protocols are followed Provide configuration, operation, and administration of network hardware and communications links; updates network documentation to reflect changes Provide technical support to include installation of software, updates and security patches, preventative and fault isolation maintenance, and monitoring of systems and log files to ensure appropriate server resource availability Document and maintain server room configurations and infrastructures Back-up to UNCE Statewide Administrator, Information Technology (COOP) for rural areas Respond to critical systems failure during and after normal business hours 1 Analyst, Computer Systems 30% Application Development and Support Research, program and implement databases, data collection methods and reporting systems Provide website technical support using web development tools including programming, content updates, update navigation structure, test and troubleshoot problems Maintain statewide document management system; program enhancements Administer event management software and implement standards 20% Technical Support Supervise students performing software and hardware support to include computer, peripheral, audiovisual, smart classroom and software installation, maintenance and troubleshooting for individual users and events Troubleshoot and resolve the most advanced technical issues Create new windows domain accounts, assign appropriate file and folder permissions, and setup telephones for new employees; maintain and revise active employee account access; remove old accounts Maintain and troubleshoot issues with windows servers, DNS server, firewall, network switches and VOIP telephones Provide technical training to Washoe County employees hardware and software applications; coordinate software training using subject matter experts 10% Administration Evaluate all application software requested or purchased by faculty and to provide implementation and utilization support; approve all IT-related purchases Maintain hardware and software inventory Research new and emerging technologies that may provide benefits consistent with current and future Washoe county computing plans Research and development of systems standards; performs needs analysis and provides procurement support, installation, and problem resolution Work jointly with and as an integral participant in the Northern Area’s administrative team and with faculty as appropriate in designing, developing and implementing policies and procedures affecting the overall operation of the Washoe County facility. Independent judgment is used to troubleshoot and pursue the resolution of issues.
