Diversity Advocates Report: Graduate Admission Committee STATS: # candidates applied to the graduate program in the department of ______________ , of these # % of candidates were female and #% identified themselves as a member of an underrepresented minority. ATTEMPTS TO INCREASE DIVERSITY AMONG THE CANDIDATES: Three promising minority candidates did not identify a potential advisor. I contacted several potential advisors for them within the department based on what I perceived as a good match based on their shared interests. OUTCOME: The incoming graduate student class of 12 includes one minority student and eight female students.
