Some procedures require observation, others full participation of the resident all under direct supervision Please attach a template of the expected schedule, and comment on the following: see attached Taking Call—residents are required to participate in call especially within the units they are rotating in under direct supervision of their current supervisor. There is no overnight call. Even when the team is on call, the participants juts stay till 8 PM to complete the evening on call rounds. Weekend Hours- see schedule Week Day Hours – see schedule – Schedules are from 8 am to 6 pm, however if one is on call, one stays till 8 pm in order to complete the evening on call rounds Free Time/Vacation Days- see schedule Flexibility of scheduling--- though the schedules are highly structured, personal requests and needs will be taken into consideration. Expectations for sociocultural etiquette We expect the resident to respect and conform to the institution sociocultural etiquette. This is an international rotation in a resource limited setting with a different social cultural etiquette so the resident needs to understand and respond appropriately to the environment. Safety issuesAll residents are initiated on safety precautions and guidelines especially in regard to prevention of hospital infections. They do also have their own PEP and have access to basic health care Participation in existing research Research is permitted and encouraged within the national and institutional guidelines for research under a direct supervisor.
