Bass E-mail: vbass@houstonisd.org Tutorials: Wednesday and Thursday 4:00-4:30 pm Room: A 175 Conference: 5th Period Course Overview This course is designed to teach the Spanish language in everyday contexts through grammar, reading, and writing, listening, and speaking while exploring Hispanic Cultures. Teacher Biography Born in Curitiba, Brazil, I am a seasoned Spanish teacher with more than 25 years of classroom instruction experience. In addition to my love of languages and fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, I received an undergraduate degree in languages and a law degree from the Federal University of Paraná in Brazil. I came to the United States as a recipient of a Fulbright scholarship to study post-graduate law at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. After I completed my studies at SMU, I decided to make Texas my home, married my sweetheart and fellow law student Samuel, and had two daughters. My passion for languages never ceased when I moved to Houston and I continued my education at the University of Houston where I earned a master's degree in linguistics. During this time, I also obtained my teaching certification and joined the Reagan team as a Spanish teacher in 1986. When I am not busy teaching students, I enjoy spending time with my four grandchildren (ages 10, 5, and 3-year-old twins) and exploring the culinary offerings in Houston.
