Stories not entirely true or factual, but at least partially imagined, made up, shaped
In fiction, facts may or maynot be true. What is expected from fiction is a senseof how
people act, not an authentic chronicle of how, at some past time, a few people acted.

Reading literary fiction is not merely passive activity, but demands attention and
insight-lending participation. In some words, we see more deeply into the minds and
hearts of characters than we into those of our family, our close friends, our lovers– or
even ourselves.

Modern literary fiction : novel and short story  narrative strategies, creates
characters, plot, settings, and makes these elements yield theme but short story
occurs within a few pages.
