ABSTRACT:
The word “design” appears in Cambridge Advance Learner’s Dictionary as a noun and a verb. To design
means to make or draw plans for an item such as a building. It refers to the process of developing a plan
from which a product or a system can be reproduced. A design is the way a proposal is conceived and
the construction steps laid out for the plan to take shape according to certain specifications. A drawing
plan descriptive proposal is the final product of a design process. The final drawings as well as the
intrinsic knowledge in the process of design have been recognised in the community of practice which
has given a new meaning to the word “process design”. User-Centred Design is a process in which real
users and their goals are the driving force behind development of a product. Users contribute feedback
throughout the development cycle. Designers need to understand what users do with their products and
learn first hand how they can help the users with their goals. There are three main elements in usercentred design processes; namely analysis activities, design and evaluation. Usercentred design
processes are utilised to design stand-alone and web-based application products.
