Week of February 1- 5
Daily Five
 This week the students will learn
about synonyms and antonyms. They
will learn that synonyms are words
that have the same meaning and
antonyms are opposites.
 Please continue to ask
comprehension questions while you
are reading with your child. In
order to ensure that your child is
using higher level thinking, begin
your questions with “why” or
“how.”
 On Friday, February 12th we will be
exchanging Valentine’s Day cards in
class. This is not a party day. Look
for more information in your child’s
red folder on Wednesday.

Math

12.2 Algebra: Add 3 Numbers
12.3 Add 3 Numbers
12.4 Use Addition Strategies
Please read over the day’s lesson and
choose one or two problems to discuss
with your child. If she or he can teach
the concept to you, then you know
mastery occurred.
Math homework goes home every day, but Friday, in the red
folder. It is to be returned the next day. Homework is not
graded, but checked, and teachers keep track of whether the
homework is done or not as a report card requirement.
Timed math fact test goal sheets are to be kept in
the back pocket of your child’s red folder in order for
you to know what facts to study each week.
Please practice your math facts for at least
10 minutes each night if you are not up to
addition to 15.
Mrs. Bush visits our
school Tuesday! Please
remember to wear a
collared shirt that day.
Science and
Social Studies
This week we will complete our
unit of study over objects in the
day and night sky before
studying people and cultures
around the world.
