Conference Room
Site Council Members:
Angie Richen
Cam Kitchen
Michal Pitzl
Dixie Daniel
Julia Loudermilk
Gladys Savage
Meeting Norms:
1. Stay with the agenda/time lines.
2. Participate fully
3. Share accurately and fairly with all MSE stakeholders
How can we share broader than this – to more staff – having the information more
available – Last year at the beginning of every staff meeting time was given to
share/update. For parents – how do we share with parents who aren’t here? Sharing
at PTO meetings? Cam shares parts of it – not in whole – Facebook – how is it going
– only about 100 followers. Site Council minutes were on website last year. Will do
again this year – possibly Cam can send link to minutes in an e-mail blast. Also
suggested using Robo Calls – Use for really important things like Veteran’s
Day/Conferences . E-mail blasts to parents seem to be effective.
4. Leave with a plan

Update Meeting Norms/Welcome!
ALL
 Set Site Council Calendar
 Same pattern as last year – First two Wednesdays hold and use as
needed. Half of PD time this year – guiding the work from end of last
year. We have a skeleton to work with for the winter.
 Michal’s role as teacher leader has morphed from last year – want to give
teachers experience with Danielson’s (classroom observations) – groups
of 10. Principals have the same kind of model. Three minute walk
throughs coming again next week. These walk throughs are really PLC
work that is coming together. Admin PLC’s/teacher PLC’s – the idea is
getting outside of your classroom/outside of your school.
 Will organize 3 Site Council meetings with parents Scott/Merrilee/LeeAnn. In January Cam will start looking for new staff
and parents for 16/17 school year. Parent meeting dates are: 11/18, 3/9
& 6/8.
 Will make time to work on Equity actions. With writing – some discussion
around writing prompts. We do a prompt every single year – how do we
see how our kids have grown. A suggestion was made to make time at a
yearend celebration time to share student work so we get a chance to see
how students have grown. . Within a year we see how students grow, but
we don’t see how they progress as they move to the next grade. Where
does Data Dashboard info go? We don’t get feedback. It looks at big
system growth. We do not have access to the information. Site Council
members agreed this would be a good thing to do since we have some days
set aside we could use for this kind of celebration. It would connect us
with why we do the work we do. That would be a good use of time.

June Meeting Minutes/SIP- Draft
Last paragraph of June minutes gave layout for 15/16 school year.
2:50 PLC Planning/View Acres Visits –
Feedback from last year: Teachers asked to do visits earlier and suggested that they
would look different. We have three staff meetings and one shared meeting in January.
Mike Potter and Suzy Loftin will help plan – It will be around building up the use of
language in mathematics. How do we want to structure the visits to View Acres?
Amount of time is 4 hours per teacher. A suggestion was made that grade level groups
plan the time for their grade level. Mount Scott is onboard with this idea. Grade level
groups could check the master calendar and pick our own times – specific focus –
language in mathematics - Teachers could get their own subs – just need to know the
codes. Parameters given by Mike and Cam and what the lens is. Last year staff wanted
to be done by Feb – needs to not run into SBAC. Mike will have same conversation with
View Acres. Lens will be built over time. It’s not what teaching practice is the best, it’s
the lens of what kids are doing, how do they learn -more of one or two essential
questions. SLC/A’s not a great fit with View Acres – one is behavior/ one is academic. A
suggestion was made that SLC’s could join with another grade level that matches what
you are teaching. Mike and Cam need to discuss further for SLC’s. Julia could make
some inquiries of other schools and see if their SLC teachers would be interested. Cam
will send out criteria to whole staff. When we get together with whole group we will
build criteria together. Teachers could spend time on a professional day in partner
teacher’s classroom and then 4 hours planning time.
3:10 November 18 Parent Meeting
ALL
Lay out goals – sharing STAR data– SIP- Mini math lesson (enVisionsmath)
with Site council – Find something in common –Share the process – Dixie/Michal and
Angie will get together and plan. There is more than one way to get the right answer and
we need to hear the ways. Here is the problem. Let people do it and break into the lesson.
Math came up a lot with new adoption – talk about enVisionsmath
There is a rhythm and process to enVisionsmath that we didn’t have last year.
(Cam will share an article he is sending out to parents soon)
(Make a document of the interrogation questions parents should ask)
HOMEWORK NIGHT – K-1-2 talked about – Start at Primary with basics around why
you do certain things.
Action Items/ Next Meeting Date: 11/18
1. Dixie/Michal/Angie will plan lesson for the 18th.
2. Cam will share article with staff that he is sending out to parents.
