FROM THE DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT
Dear Parents and Community Members,
year in advanced placement and International Baccalaureate
programs. High school students earned more than 5,000 hours
in college credit and had more than 140 elective offerings.
Throughout your child’s school experience, they have access to
PE, music and counseling services. We continue to have a
strong foundation in reading and math, as well as science,
technology and the arts.
Our mission is to prepare graduates who are inspired and
empowered to strengthen the quality of life in our local and
global communities. Please continue to stay in touch, letting us
know how we are doing with your child. You know best
whether your child is a reflection of our mission. The success of
your child is the best indicator of our work together. Progress toward our shared goals of providing a highquality
education to each child can be measured in many ways.
Indeed, we are seeing greater satisfaction from our families
about our schools and how we give each child the tools to
succeed. This Oregon Report Card gives further measurement
and this letter provides some added understanding.
Other signs of progress can be found throughout our schools
as we begin our first full school year in six years. A new district
equity policy established the priority to meet the needs of each
child. We have started fullday kindergarten at all elementary
schools and new math materials are present in all classrooms.
More staff has been hired to reduce class size.
The custom student experience and the devotion of our caring
staff mean that more students are graduating than at any time
in district history. More than 1,500 students were enrolled this
Thank you,
Superintendent | Matt Utterback

Priority Schools are high poverty schools that were ranked in
the bottom 5% of Title IA schools in the state based on
Oregon’s rating formula. These schools generally have overall
very low achievement and limited growth over time. Additional
supports and interventions to make improvements are needed.
Focus Schools are high poverty schools that were ranked in the
bottom 5% 15% of Title IA schools in the state with a significant
achievement gap based on Oregon’s rating formula. These
schools need additional support in closing the achievement gap
among historically underserved student populations.
Model Schools are high poverty schools that were ranked in
the top 5% of Title IA schools in the state based on Oregon’s
rating formula. These schools serve as models of successful
student outcomes.
