The following graph demonstrates

according to position (grade in brackets – ascending

recorded at the same time (31st March) on the three consecutive years to enable valid
comparison.
The profile of the staff gender balance across the University shows an increase in the overall
proportion of female staff between 2009 and 2011 from 40% to 42%.
A key gender issue for the University is the

low number of female professors and senior
female academic staff. The Equality & Diversity Action Plan 2011/12 includes
inclu
an employment
target to increase the number of female professors across the University so as to ensure the
percentage remains within the upper quartile of the Top Ten Comparator Group with a yearyear
on-year increase of 1%.
