Miss Jackson’s Class Weekly News Central Avenue School What We Learned This Week… Math – This week we reviewed multiples and finding the least common denominator. We also learned how to add and subtract unlike fractions as well as how to convert between improper fractions and mixed numbers. Reading – We began our mystery unit this week. We learned about mystery elements, vocabulary, and story structure. In our notebooks, we also kept track of characters, important events, and clues in our books. Writing – This week we began our unit on persuasive essay writing. We brainstormed topics by thinking about things we want to change. Then we worked on coming up with reasons for and reasons against the issues we chose. Science – After researching different organisms that live in the various layers of the pond in Library class, we constructed 3-dimensional models of our chosen organism. We will be finishing our unit on pond life next week. Congratulations 5J for winning the Golden Tray this week!
