What We Learned
This Week…

Monday 10/14
Early Release
Math – This week we finished our unit on addition,
subtraction, and equations. We learned how to write,
evaluate, and solve algebraic equations and played musical
math to practice our problem solving strategies.
Thursday 10/17
Math Clinic 8:10 am
Picture Day
Reading – In our book clubs we continued reading and
discussing realistic fiction books. We also practiced writing
summaries, found examples of figurative language, and
discussed a variety of social issues in our books.
Friday 10/18
Family Fun Night 6:00 pm
Writing – We planned our personal narratives by using a
graphic organizer. Then we began drafting our stories.
Next week we will learn strategies to revise and edit our
personal narratives before publishing them.
Science – This week we learned about fish and snails. We
observed our fish’s movement and sense of sight and
hearing. We also observed pond snails. We tested their
reaction to different stimuli and calculated their speed.
