Miss Jackson’s Class Weekly News Central Avenue School What We Learned This Week… Math – This week we finished the multiplication unit and took the chapter test. We also began the unit on division by practicing division facts and recalling the steps for long division with one digit divisors. Reading – In our book clubs we finished our books. Then we wrote letters about the themes of our stories from our character’s perspective. We also met with our buddies and helped them make text to world connections. Writing – We finished publishing our personal narratives this week. Then we shared our stories with the class. We also reviewed grammar by discussing homophones and the four different types of sentences. Science – After researching different organisms that live in the various layers of the pond in Library class, we constructed 3-dimensional models of our chosen organism. We will be finishing our unit on pond life next week. 10/28 – 11/1 Dates to Remember Monday 11/4 Half Day – Dismissal @ 12:45 Parent/Teacher Conferences Book Fair Tuesday 11/5 Science Test Half Day – Dismissal @ 12:45 Parent/Teacher Conferences Book Fair Wednesday 11/6 Half Day – Dismissal @ 12:45 Parent/Teacher Conferences Thursday 11/7 & Friday 11/8 No School!
