Alistair Heslop Director, Ideas People Business Alistair is an active business mentor and investor-entrepreneur specialising in early stage technology and software businesses. He currently acts as a mentor/advisor for a number of small businesses, and on a voluntary basis for the Prince’s Trust, UnLtd and Young Enterprise. He was the founder of the BiT Group, which he set up to commercially exploit his doctoral research at Cranfield University in business process modelling. Using his own funds, Alistair started the business in 1991. The business grew organically and by 2001 consisted of three companies specialising in the development, sales and support of software tools. He was the Group’s managing director until 2006, when it was sold through a trade sale. Alistair holds a PhD in process modelling from Cranfield University, an MSc in CAD/CAM from Cranfield University and a BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Leeds University.
