Dr Samit Ahir
CEO, Makevale Group
Sam worked in the family business, Makevale Ltd, during summer holidays in the nineties,
being paid with video games. Pre- university, he joined the Year In IndustryTM scheme. Sam
graduated from Imperial College in 2003, authored several international papers & book
chapters, worked in the US, founded a UK charity and dance company and completed his
PhD (soft matter/polymer physics) at Cambridge in 2006.
Dr Sam Ahir officially joined Makevale’s payroll in 2006. He has worked from the shop-floor
up. He co-founded Makevale Acrylics Pvt Ltd in 2008, the flagship Indian factory, and bought
St George Technology USA in 2009. Since Dr Sam became Group CEO in 2010, the
Makevale team has tripled the value of the global business. He has made many mistakes
along the way. He is a Cranfield BGP alumnus (2012/13), Father of two and shares a desk
with the company founder, Dr Val Ahir, his Dad.
Makevale factories manufacture speciality raw material bead acrylics for medical, dental and
various industrial applications. Makevale has operations in the UK, USA and India, with
clients around the world. Makevale materials will touch the lives of everyone on Earth.
