Paul Shore McKeown Chair, Cranfield University Paul holds the McKeown Chair of Ultra Precision Technologies at Cranfield. He trained as an apprentice in the machine tool industry in the UK prior to working internationally within the bearing industry. He was a senior engineer at SKF’s research centre in the Netherlands and later became Technical Director at Sweden’s largest machine tool company, Liköping Machine Tools AB. He worked at SKF AB headquarters in Gothenburg taking responsibility for the precision production engineering research before taking up an academic role at Cranfield. At Cranfield he leads the Cranfield University Precision Engineering activity. He also directs the EPSRC funded UPS2 Integrated Knowledge Centre which aims to translate research outputs to wealth generation and job creation. He is the incoming President of the European Society of Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology, an enthusiast of engaging young people into science and engineering, a keen motorcyclist and an ever slowing football player.
