Its purpose is to develop the skills associated with writing extended pieces of work: communicating your message effectively in English; organising and supporting your ideas to develop a theme; and using sources competently and in accordance with academic conventions. In addition you will develop time management, managing own learning and reviewing and planning skills. All these skills are transferrable and enable you to approach other modules on the Foundation Certificate and your future studies in higher education with confidence. Module aims - intentions of the module Module aims 1. To provide students with study skills in English for researching and writing extended pieces of work. 2. To develop students’ ability to study effectively in an English-speaking academic environment.
