Georgia Organisms and Habitats Project Dear Students, Overarching Theme: What are the unique characteristics that allow animals and plants to survive in the different habitats of Georgia ? Welcome to the Georgia Organisms and Habitats Project! This project will give you an opportunity to choose a habitat, along with an animal, or plant native to Georgia and become a classroom expert on it. You will have time to research your plant or animal and discover what makes its habitat the best one for it. After you have found information on your plant or animal, you will complete a researched-based technology project. You will research a Georgia region and habitat and compile your research to create a visual aid that correlates with your habitat. Each group must complete a PowerPoint presentation at school (5-10 slides) and choose another element to supplement your presentation. You may choose to do a poster, other form of visual aid or a student worksheet to enhance your project. Some ideas include a diorama, clay figure, poster, or any other great idea you might come up with! Be creative and have fun! Each person will also turn in a research information sheet related to the habitat, animal, and/or plant. Please be prepared to present your project and informational sheet on ______________. Allow your group five minutes to present your project (no more than five minutes, please!) Your informational sheet will be graded on content, mechanics, grammar, and spelling and will be completed in class. The informational sheet will include: Name of your Georgia region and organism Where it is located in Georgia A description of the habitat using pictures and words An animal/plant that is unique to Georgia and a description of each Why the organism is adapted to that location We will go the library and computer lab to research for four class periods. If you have trouble gathering enough information, be sure to visit the Media Resources available on the PMES website. Happy Researching! POWERPOINT PRESENTATION INCLUDES: Title slide that introduces your group members and habitat. Description of where the habitat is located in the Georgia. Pictures of animals and labels of animals/plants. POSTER INCLUDES: Name of habitat. Specific examples of the habitat and illustration or pictures) Brief description of climate. STUDENT SHEET: Minimum of 15 facts specific to your animal/habitat. Includes facts, fill in the blanks, multiple choice questions, or word search with vocabulary. We will go the library and computer lab to research for four class periods. If you have trouble gathering enough information, be sure to visit the Media Resources available on the PMES website.
