What We Learned
This Week…
Math – This week we reviewed how to multiply fractions and
mixed numbers and used these skills to solve real-world
problems. After break we will we learn how to divide
fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by fractions.
Reading – We continued our unit on non-fiction by
exploring a variety of non-fiction books and articles. We
practiced identifying main idea and supporting details and
sequencing events in non-fiction articles.
Writing – This week we finished publishing our persuasive
essays. Then we revisited our personal narrative unit by
writing winter holiday traditions narratives. After break we
will begin our non-fiction writing unit.
Science – This week we learned about pulleys and
experimented with the mechanical advantage of pulleys.
After break we will learn about the last three simple
machines, which are inclined planes, wedges, and screws.
