What We Learned
This Week…
Math – This week we reviewed how to compare, order,
and round decimals and how to rewrite decimals as
fractions and mixed numbers. Then we began our unit on
multiplying decimals by using place value chips.
Reading – In our book clubs we continued reading and
discussing historical fiction books. We created timelines
for the historical events and personal narrative events of
our books. Then we discussed the theme of our books.
Writing – We continued our historical fiction writing unit
by drafting our narratives. We learned how to use
transition words and write a strong ending. Next week we
will revise and edit our stories.
Science – This week we reviewed how parachutes work.
Then we constructed our own parachutes to test. We also
learned about density and how hot air balloons float by
becoming “lighter than air”.
