Miss Jackson’s Class Weekly News Central Avenue School What We Learned This Week… Math – This week we reviewed how to compare, order, and round decimals and how to rewrite decimals as fractions and mixed numbers. Then we began our unit on multiplying decimals by using place value chips. Reading – In our book clubs we continued reading and discussing historical fiction books. We created timelines for the historical events and personal narrative events of our books. Then we discussed the theme of our books. Writing – We continued our historical fiction writing unit by drafting our narratives. We learned how to use transition words and write a strong ending. Next week we will revise and edit our stories. Science – This week we reviewed how parachutes work. Then we constructed our own parachutes to test.
