In Spring 2015, it was decided to
assess Outcome # 2 to focus on
the oral skills of the students
participating in an oral interview
based on their own essay, written
as an assignment for SPAN 227
in the spring semester 2015,
about the Hispanic identity and
how the Hispanic group
contributes to the American
culture.
This was a projection made in the
last assessment of SPAN 227 for
the Academic Year 2008/2009.
A total of tO students from
SPAN 227 participated in an
interview one-on-one with the
instructor. An assessment tool
containing ten questions was
used for the assessment.
At a 90% accuracy response of
the core indicators used for the
interview, the levels for SPAN
227 are well above average and
therefore an effort should be
made to maintain such
percentages. The participants
showed the natural nervousness
about having to speak in public,
but I am certain that was due to
their lack of experience_ I believe
it would be highly beneficial to
get the students involved in
regular interviews throughout the
Students will be able to
demonstrate their acquired
knowledge by earning a 70% or
above through examination,
which will prove their ability to
write, read, interpret and
understand at an advanced level.

express themselves correctly at
an advanced level.
In the communication area the
topics were handled adequately,
their ideas were clearly conveyed
and showed some creativity.
Required very little effort to be
understood. In the accurary area
the students showed some control
