In the boxes below, summarize the results of your assessment activities during the last year. In the boxes below, summarize how you are or how you plan to use the results to improve student learning. Based on the results of this assessment, will you revise your outcomes? If so, please summarize how and why in the boxes below: The following is a breakdown of grades measured by written examinations with a predetermined grading rubric: A=64%; 8:024%; C""5%; 0::2%; f=:)% Continue to make personal connections with the students (i.e.: know names, be sensitive to kinesthetic comforts, etc.) to encourage attendance and participation in cultural understanding explored in class. Analysis of the cultural dance styles is inherent in the written examinations. This outcome need not be revised The ability to analyze various dance styles will be measured by written examinations using a predetermined rubric. Attendance and participation constitutes 50% of the student' s grade. Full participation and application of lecture material and research to assignments reflect the student's depth of knowledge and critical thought when identifying cultural dance cues, cultural influence and social belief systems. Continue to begin with the large group discussions and slowly transition to smaller discussion groups helps to facilitate participation. Knowing the names of the students and the student engagement level helps to dictate the depth of study directed by the instructor. There is constant, instantaneous feedback as to participation level. The learning outcome is valid and need not be changed, but we might consider putting the course as a CANVAS assist course where students can access their attendance and participation records themselves to see where they stand point-wise. Outcome #I Students will analyze various dance styles Outcome# 2 Students will identify and associate trends in dance with emphasis on multicultural dance The ability to identify and associate trends in dance with emphasis on multicultural dance will be measured by using a discussion point system using predetermined standards. A pre-class sample of understanding of cultural differences in dance was compared to a post-class sample of understanding. The grade breakdown for the student directed examples; A=73%; 8=23%; C=3%; D=Oo/o; F= J% Page 2 The reflection on personal understanding the first day of class and the reexamination of that personal understanding at the end of the semester show a remarkable growth of understanding of the cultural values of dance. The scores for the student demonstration at the end of the semester validate the importance of the learning outcome. This learning objective is valid and an integral part of the course. Once again, a suggestion might be to make this course a CANVAS assist course for the ease of accessibility to feedback. ...
