August 2015 Dear Students & Parents, It is my pleasure to introduce myself to you. My name is Mrs. Korie Mitchell, and this will be my 10th year teaching. I grew up nearby in Libertyville, Illinois. After graduating from the University of Illinois in 2006, I taught Kindergarten in Gurnee for two years to students who were learning English as a Second Language. I also learned a great deal about other cultures from my students and their parents. I completed a Masters Degree in Education and Instructional Technology in 2012, along with an endorsement for school library. I am looking forward to sharing my love of reading and technology with my students. I taught 2nd and 6th grades in western Nebraska before coming to Isaac Fox in 2013. After teaching 5th grade for one year, I joined the first grade team. I love reading, cooking, camping, and photography, but I especially love learning new things! I have traveled to all 50 of the U.S. States, Canada, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, England, and Mainland Europe. I lived and studied in Granada, Spain during the summer of 2005, and had many opportunities to travel throughout Europe while I was there. My most recent trip was a trip to Italy in 2012 with my husband. We won’t be traveling abroad for a while though. Our son Kyle will turn 1 year old in October and we enjoy spending lots of time with him, and our families. First grade is such an exciting year for students because there is just so much growing that we do. I can’t wait to partner with you in helping your child blossom this year. I hope you have had a wonderful summer break and I am looking forward to getting to know you better. We will have a great year learning together! Sincerely, Mrs. Mitchell Isaac Fox Elementary, Grade 1 Room 406 korie.mitchell@lz95.org 847-540-2827
