WATCH Internships Available for Jan- June 2016
WATCH: WATCH’s mission is to help poor and immigrant residents of Waltham to get access to services and
have a say in how things are done in our community. WATCH provides English class for immigrants, helps low
income tenants find housing, educates tenants on their rights so they can organize for better conditions and
more affordable housing, and provides free home weatherization through volunteer ‘barnraisings.’ WATCH
builds community by providing volunteer opportunities and a place where members can improve their own lives
and help make a difference in Waltham.

Background: WATCH has 5 part time staff and an annual budget of $200,000. Our funding comes from
individual donors, foundations, government grants, local businesses, local churches, and banks.
Duties: Work with the Executive Director and Development Director on donor and foundation research, grant
writing, church outreach, and the Fall Fund Drive to help WATCH secure funding for its important community
programs.
This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in grassroots fundraising and grant writing that would be
valuable in a variety of settings- academic, non-profit, or business related. 5-15 hours/week.

video and photos. We need an intern to video tape and photograph events and edit video for use on social
media.

tenants, English learners, Board members and document events. Intern will edit the interviews to create a film

program management.
4. Website Development Intern
Background: WATCH’s housing clinic helps hundreds of Waltham tenants a year to access community
resources, resolve issues with landlords, get help for poor living conditions, and find affordable housing.
WATCH’s website is based on Joomla platform and has a resource guide used by Housing Clinic staff and the
public on a variety of topics especially for low-income and Spanish speaking residents.
Duties: Expanded the website’s content with additional resources and links based on research guided by the
Executive Director and Housing Clinic Supervisors. No experience with website development required. 5-10
