THE CRANFIELD EXECUTIVE MBA
ALUMNI PROFILES
Steven Wood
British, EMBA 2013, CO-FOUNDER & CEO,
EQUUS ENGLAND
Steven came to Cranfield after twenty years in IT where he’d
worked in a number of roles in both the public and private
sectors. He wanted firstly to develop a wider appreciation
and understanding of management and business and then go
on to start his own business. Once at Cranfield, Steven was
impressed by the emphasis on leadership development. The
integrated approach to personal development, underpinned by the
management theory taught in class, gave him the confidence to
develop his business ideas.
These ideas came to fruition thanks to the support of the Bettany
Centre – Steven launched his online equestrian clothing site,
www.Equus.co.uk, and went on to secure seed funding shortly
after graduating.
DR CHARMAINE GRIFFITHS
British, EMBA 2012, DIRECTOR OF STRATEGY AND
PERFORMANCE, BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION
After 14 years working in leading UK health and medical research
organisations, Charmaine decided to undertake an MBA to broaden
her experience and hone her skills for the increasing challenges
facing the health and research environment. As a Director at the British Heart Foundation, she chose Cranfield
because of its unique blend of personal development and strong
track record in areas such as economics and logistics. Supported by a Cranfield Trust scholarship, Charmaine found the
MBA a life-changing experience and a great grounding to step into
a new board role as Director of Strategy and Performance.

FUNDING YOUR EXECUTIVE MBA
Many of our Executive MBA students are sponsored in some way, either fully or partly
funded by their sponsoring organisation. Work-related study adds value to a business;
equipping talented individuals with the tools they need to develop their skills and is an
ideal way to retain talent and underpin succession planning strategies.
work-related study
Throughout the programme, Executive MBA students have the opportunity to apply their
classroom learning to solve problems at work, to carry out work-related projects, and to
learn from best practice across a range of industries.
corporate bursaries
We know that companies want to realise a return on their investment when sponsoring
students. Cranfield can offer corporate bursaries to organisations wishing to support
students to study for an Executive MBA. Please contact us to discuss this further.
SALARY SACRIFICE
Companies and individuals can benefit from participating in a Salary Sacrifice scheme.
Under this kind of scheme, the employer reduces the employee’s salary by the amount of
the programme fee, and pays the fee directly to the School. As a result, the individual pays
no tax or national insurance on the sacrificed amount, and the employer avoids paying
national insurance on this part of the employee’s salary.
