Web Advisory Committee MEETING MINUTES – 2/4/2009 Meeting called to order at: 11:01 a.m. In Attendance: Cal Anderson, Kyle Dalpe, Manuel Becerra, Echo Marshall, Brandy Colby, Barbie Wright, John Fitzsimmons, Rebecca Burke, Chris Winslow, Steve Zideck, Christene Tognarelli (for Tony Williams), Jason Oetjen and Kathy Berry Absent: Peter Miller, Anne Flesher, ASTM Representative Current Business I. Education in Crisis Site • Kyle - PIO and Web services are working on a new site to include information on budget impact. The site will include a blog where people can post ideas and a video with statements from members of the community. The site will go live this month. Q u i c k P r o j e c t /W e b S i t e Up d a t e I. Academic Dept. Web Sites • Cal - Web services is waiting for content from Jowel Laguerre to create sites for Academic Departments. II. MT3 (My.TMCC.edu ver.3) • Cal - MT3 is a replacement of the TMCC WebCollege landing page. The project has begun and is expected to go live May 2009. • Steve - TMCC will be switching from the current student e-mail SCS to Gmail. SCS is talking to Web services about the Gmail project to encourage other schools to do this as well. III. • Cafe Web Site Manny - The Cafe Web site will be up this month. IV. Online Orientation • Cal and Kyle will be meeting with Jody Lykes this week for the final content of the online orientation. The online orientation will include more quizzes and some video pieces. The online orientation should go live within the next two months. V. iTunes U/Youtube Channel • Cal – Web services and PIO are looking at these two options for videos. • Manny - This would be used to compliment instruction in a way that would help students and faculty. VI. Library Course Reserve • Manny – The form is online for instructors to place course content on reserve in the library to be available for students. VII. When applying online, students would receive five follow up e-mail letters and that has now changed to one follow up e-mail letter. This project is live and working in order. VIII. Media Services • Manny - Media Services will have new information on their Web site. Individuals will be able to search classroom equipment online that will provide them with detailed information and photos of the equipment that is in each classroom or conference room. This site will be launched by Friday, February 6, 2009. New Business I. PTK – Teacher of the Year • Cal - Scottie Lockrem submitted a request to set up the online Phi Theta Kappa Teacher of the Year Nominations. PTK is including part-time faculty to the nomination form. Online voting will be live February 13 – March 1, 2009. Other Business I. AEI Committee Update • Manny - Information on laws and accessible electronic information is being gathered and will be given to the members of the AEI Committee. Informational presentations have been done with other committees on campus. Manny will keep us posted as to what goes on as the AEI Committee progresses. II. Student Worker • Cal - Web services has a position available for a student worker. Cal asked the committee to refer students who would be interested in applying. III. • WebCollege Updates? Brandy - There are 300 classes offered online with 13,000 duplicated students enrolled in Angel.
