Building the Canadian Economy A recent report produced by the Information Technology Association of Canada illustrates the importance of these factors. The report, titled “Toward a Culture of Innovation,” provides guidance for how Canada can build a more competitive economy within the global economic landscape through building a knowledge-based society. The report suggests even actions that track closely with the factors we have discussed. 1. Investing strategically in education. The report suggests that the lack of qualified workers, particularly in the IT and science fields, will both stifle economic growth & cause firms to move operations to countries where such skills are in greater abundance. The report’s solution is increased public investment in education. 2. Better business management. The report notes that an enormous hunger for management expertise exists (again, a human capital concern), but expands the concept of leadership to making every employee a leader. The report advocates both cultivating new types of business leaders and making a leader of every decision maker in the workplace. 3. Better access to capital. Nothing that debate exists for.
