Geopolitical Hotspots Assignment
News Report
In a group of 3, you are going to develop a “behind the scenes” news report
on the current geopolitical climate of the world. You will need to research
your report using a variety of sources, including the newspaper if possible.
The report may be presented orally, visually and digitally. Your presentation
should be approximately 15 minutes in length.

Your report must contain a news brief on one specific conflict in the
world. It may be a current conflict, or a recent conflict that has been
resolved (recent meaning no earlier than 1990).

Your news brief should:

Supply background information about the country involved

Highlight where the conflict is taking place

Outline the reasons for the conflict

List the groups or individuals involved

Discuss the human, environmental, political, and economic
implications of the conflict

Describe the actions taken so far to resolve the conflict (has the UN
or the international community intervened, if so, what actions have
been taken?)

If it is ongoing, what needs to be done to resolve the conflict
