ROE NEEDS YOU!
The culminating project of the IB Primary Years Program
is known as Exhibition. 5th graders are asked to identify
an area of interest and explore a real-world issue related
to this interest. An important support to the work of the
Exhibition is adult mentors to act as guides/facilitators of
this inquiry. We are currently looking for parents and
community members to fill mentor positions for these
projects later in the spring. Mentors would be asked to
commit one hour per week in April and May to work with
a small group of students on their specific
project. Mentors are cheerleaders, sounding boards and
assistants as students lead the inquiry and plan meaningful
action and presentations as a result of their
learning. Mentor meeting times are flexible within the
school day (8-3pm) and can change from week to week if
needed to accommodate schedules. The mentor role in an
extremely important part of the Exhibition and a
rewarding volunteer opportunity for all! Mentors must be
18 or older and must be cleared through the HISD VIPS
program.
If you would be interested in learning more about this
opportunity, or you are ready to say YES, please contact
PYP Coordinator Liz Goodman
(agoodman@houstonisd.org)
Thank you for your consideration!
