Release Notes for SRP520-U and SRP540
Series Services Ready Platforms Software
Version 1.2.4.

These Release Notes describe the open and resolved issues with the SRP520-U
and SRP540 Series Services Ready Platforms software version 1.2.4.
NOTE This software release does not apply to original SRP520 products running
software version 1.1.x.

New Features
The following new features and enhancements were added to software version
1.2.4.

Guest Network feature with XML provisioning support.
•
NAT Bypass Policy feature used to route traffic without address translation.
•
Enhanced policy routing rules to allow traffic to be directed through GRE
tunnels.
•
Support for Cisco VPN server for use with the Cisco VPN Client v5.0 or later
(maximum 5 connections for the SRP520-U and 10 connections for the
SRP540).
•
Customizable Configuration Utility login banner.
•
Scheduled PPP reconnect timer feature with XML provisioning tag
<Scheduled_WAN_Reconnect>.
•
Switch Content Addressable Memory (CAM) table available in XML format
through HTTP.
•
Redesigned port forwarding and port triggering XML configuration tags.
•
Voice configuration pages added to the Configuration Utility online help.
•
Password Complexity Settings option added, used to enforce strong
password requirements.
•
3G modem reset mechanism added to improve 3G availability.
•
LTE 3G/4G wireless mode option added for mobile networks.
•
Added support for up to 20 Advanced Firewall rules.
•
Added 1/32 to VPI/VCI auto-detect list. The entire list now includes: 1/32,
0/38, 0/35, 8/35, 0/43, 0/51, 0/59, 8/43, 8/51, and 8/59.
•
Added support for the following USB modems:

NOTE As of this release, the flash based SRP Setup Wizard has been removed from the
product.
Limitations and Restrictions
These are the limitations and restrictions for the SRP. These are known limitations
that may not be fixed or may not have a workaround.
•
SIP Application Layer Gateway (ALG) only supports UDP signaling.
•
The FXS interface sometimes cannot send packets directly to the LAN side
of the IP phone, resulting in one-way audio heard from the IP phone to the
FXS interface. The workaround is to ensure that the RTP port ranges used
by the FXS ports do not overlap with those used by LAN side SIP clients.

Voice settings are not included in SRP500 backup file (Administration >
Backup and Restore). The workaround is to save the voice settings as an
XML file by downloading: http://<SRP_IP_Address>/admin/config.xml.

When load balancing is enabled, the SRP cannot ping to a GRE tunnel or
traceroute from the Diagnostics > Ping Test page in 3G mode. There is no
workaround. (CSCtj78120)
•
When logging system messages to USB memory, make sure that the
storage device is formatted to use the FAT32 file system. If a different
format is used, the device may not be detected by the SRP. (CSCtj02589)
•
When <Echo canceller enable> is disabled, the SRP fails to send a G711u
passthrough fax to a Cisco Gateway with v.17 modulation. The workaround
is to enable <Echo canceller enable> from the Voice > Line > Auto
Configuration page. (CSCts01669)

Open Issues
The following table lists the open issues in software version 1.2.4.

CSCth67844
The SRP cannot register to the proxy after bootup.
This problem occurs if the SRP is using a proxy host name and SIP Transport is set to
TCP or TLS on the Voice > Line > SIP Settings page.
Workaround Either use UDP transport, or configure the proxy IP address rather
than the hostname.
CSCth79385
When receiving an incoming PSTN call to all lines, only Line 1 displays the correct
caller ID.
Workaround
CSCth95057
PSTN Hook State on the Voice > Info page is not synchronous with the FXO port’s
actual state.

The SRP only responds with the last negotiated codec in the 200 OK message after
the Broadworks application server sends an INVITE without SDP.
This occurs when a user places a call from Broadworks User A to the SRP and
attempts a blind transfer to Broadworks User B through the Broadworks Call
Manager client.

No audio occurs on devices making 3-way calls mixed on a BroadSoft conference
bridge.

CSCtl22363
After a reboot or a power cycle, the register message sent to the proxy is incorrect
causing a register failure.
The IP address in the VIA, CONTACT and CALL-ID header in the register message is
0.0.0.0, which does not match the SRP’s IP address.
Note. Only SRP’s with an Ethernet connection type and PPPoE have this issue.
Workaround Increase the registration retry long interval timer <Reg Retry Long
Intvl> to 30 seconds from the Voice > SIP page.
CSCtl22370
After a reboot or a power cycle, the SRP cannot receive SIP messages resulting in a
register failure.
The FXS port sends a register message to the proxy who responds with “200 OK”
but does not transfer this response back to the FXS port.
Note. Only SRP’s with an Ethernet connection type and PPPoE have this issue.
Workaround

If the network disconnects and a PSTN call is placed, the call breaks when the
network is recovered and the SIP lines re-register to the proxy.

Access to the XML configuration is allowed with user credentials.
The voice configuration limited to the admin can be seen by the user after entering

Fax tone detection sensitivity causes the SRP to detect the fax tone incorrectly
during a normal call and then switch the initiated codec to the fax passthrough codec
or T.38, thus causing the call to break.
Workaround If the SRP is used as a voice gateway that does not support Fax
Call, disable <FAX CNG Detect Enable> and <FAX V21 Detect Enable> from the
Voice > Line page.
CSCtr63526
RIP values are not saved after modifying an interface from the RIP Config edit page.
Workaround When enabling RIP, first enable the feature and then click Submit
before changing the interface or network settings.

The SRP cannot retrieve the XML provisioning file from the TFTP server after a
reboot. (ADSL models only)
NOTE
This only occurs if the ADSL connection type is set to PPPoE.
Workaround Set the resync value to: <Resync Random Delay> = 10 (or above)
from the Voice > Provisioning > Configuration Profile page.

Missing PPPoE subinterface settings after importing the XML configuration file.

SRP Configuration Utility does not work with Firefox version 9.0.1.

Use another browser or downgrade to an older Firefox version.
The Guest Network (SSID3) security settings are not disabled if SSID3 was
previously configured.

Manually disable the Guest Network (SSID3) security settings as

Choose Interface Setup > Wi-Fi Settings > Basic Wireless Settings.
•
Click the Security Edit button for SSID3 GuestNet.

Under Wireless Security, change the Security Mode to Disabled.

Ping and traceroute fails from LAN to WAN when the DSL WAN interface is set to
PPPoE with Connect on Demand.
Workaround Use the Keep Alive option for PPPoE instead (Interface Setup >
WAN interface > Internet Setup), or disable NAT entirely from the Network Setup >
NAT > NAT Setting page.
CSCtx38670
NAT disable option does not work on a Voice LAN.
Workaround Add a new policy for the voice VLAN from the Network Setup > NAT
> NAT Bypass page.
CSCtx41054
PVC setting does not match the PPPoA mode configuration when Connect on
Demand is enabled. (ADSL models only)

Disconnect the cable from the DSL port on the SRP.

Perform the following steps:

When the PPPoE connection type is set to Connect on Demand, it is not possible to
ping a fully qualified domain name from the SRP diagnostics utility.
Workaround Use a LAN site PC to ping the outside public IP address. Use the
actual IP address, instead of the FQDN so that PPPoE Connect on Demand will be
triggered. For example: ping 168.95.1.1.

DTMF sometimes can’t be sent from the SRP if the DTMF Tx Method is set to INFO on
the Voice > Line page.

The SRP experiences wireless instability under heavy traffic loads. This can occur
under certain environmental conditions such as interference on other 2.4GHz
appliances and routers.

After a reboot or a power cycle, the SRP cannot transfer the register message to the
network although its lines still send out the register message.

An existing customized application cannot be modified on the Network Setup >
Firewall > Internet Access Control page.

The SRP cannot receive a T.38 fax from a Cisco Gateway.

The L2TP connection on the WAN1 interface fails if both WAN 1 and WAN 2
interfaces are configured for L2TP and load balancing is enabled.
