V St. Dunstan School As we come to the end of this school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many individuals who make St. Dunstan School a Christian community where active learning takes place. This past academic year has been a very busy and highly successful year for everyone. The many successes are due to the dynamic and warm relationships that exist at St. Dunstan School between staff, parents and students. The greatness of this community is truly a result of the hard work and collaboration of school, home and parish. I would especially like to thank the teachers of St. Dunstan. They are a dynamic group of educators who share a love of learning. Thank you as well to Mrs. Romer for being the lifeline of our school. Every student is treated as if they were her own and we are June 2014 Principal L. O’Neill Secretary M. Romer Trustee Peter Ferreira 416.805.7110 Superintendent D. As we come to the end of another school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many individuals who make St. Dunstan School a Christian community where active learning takes place. This past academic year has been a very busy and highly successful year for everyone. The many successes are due to the dynamic and warm relationships that exist at St. Dunstan School between staff, parents and students. I would especially like to thank the teachers of St. Dunstan who have helped our students earn the skills to be lifelong learners and to walk in the light of Christ. Thank you as well to Mrs. Romer for her warm and welcoming personality. She will be greatly missed and remembered by our community. Thank you to Fr. Marc-Andre, Fr. Kim and their Parish team for providing the spiritual leadership and for guiding us in our faith journey. Thank you to our trustee, Peter Ferreira, for all his support this year and thank you to our superintendent, David Amaral, for always being there for us. To our graduates and those students who are moving on, thank you for enriching us with your presence and we hope that St. Dunstan will always be a part of your memories. I hope that everyone has a safe and restful summer and I look forward to seeing you in September. Enrolment Unfortunately our projected enrolment for September indicates that our school will decrease in school population. This has resulted in a decline in the number of staff and services assigned to our school. We would like to thank Madame Bozzo, Mr. Abbas, Mr. Da Costa and Ms. Murphy for all their contributions to St. Dunstan. We wish them all the best in their future placements. Combined Classes Combined grades are a necessary reality at our school and at many schools. As teachers prepare class lists they consider many factors, such as the learning styles of students, a balance of abilities and class culture. Being in a combined grade is no way prejudicial to a child’s education. Within Ontario, all schools are bound by a strict teacher and pupil ratio. This will be particularly evident as we strive to meet the hard cap of 20:1 in the primary grades and the guidelines of 25:1 in grades four to eight. Until we finalize our enrolment during the first two weeks of September, all class arrangements and teacher placements are tentative. Graduation To our Grade 8 graduates, best wishes as you leave us to enter high school. Your accomplishments and contributions to our school are appreciated and will be fondly remembered. Continue to be the best that you can be, and influence one another in a most positive way. We are privileged to have had the opportunity to educate these future leaders. Congratulations from the staff and students of St. Dunstan Catholic School. Our graduation ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 26th at Le Treport Banquet Hall. All parents and family are encouraged to attend. SK Graduation Congratulations to our SK students who will be participating in their Graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 26th. Play Day Our Primary Play Day will take place on June 23 for grades 1-3. All of the games are planned for outdoors so children are reminded to dress for the weather and the activity by wearing running shoes, a hat and sunscreen. They should also bring plenty of water. Storage of Medication We would like to remind all parents who have had medication stored at the school for their child that it should be picked up at the end of the school year. We do not retain medications from one year to the next. New medications and the proper forms for storage will need to be filled out for the new school year. We will send an individual reminder to all parents affected by this policy. Dolphin Athletics On Sunday, June 8th, 13 girls will be competing in the 5K Streetsville Bread and Honey Festival. A hearty congratulations to all the girls who have been running twice a week for the last 2 months. Thank you to Mrs. Swanek, Mme.
