James and John were two opportunists. Their one aim was to
rise in the ranks. To achieve their end they did not hesitate to
beg. They did not mind how much envy and resentment they
aroused in their companions. Their aim was to scramble up
the career ladder. But at what price to themselves? If in the
course of their rise to the top, people lose themselves, their
own souls, whatever they do or achieve will be worthless.
Power hardens the human heart. A hard-hearted person is
incapable of love. It is by giving that we receive, and it is by
serving that we grow in love.
Even the closest of couples or warmest of
friends likes to spend time away from each
other. We can think without words or ask
questions in silence while pondering our thoughts in our own
company. This doesn’t mean that spouses and friends don’t
care about each other. It merely recognizes the fact that we all
need to be alone now and then.
Jesus often liked to be alone, especially when praying to His
Heavenly Father. That same Heavenly Father is in places in
our heart that are secret places to everyone but us. We

Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time Jesus' life was the best `job description'; sympathy,
mercy, service, compassion, total giving. Life is so
rewarding when one really lives for others, rather
than just trying to make all people serve the self.
Do you want to serve...or be served? Would you be
willing to proclaim the truth of God’s love and presence in your
life as a priest, religious or deacon? If so, call Fr. Hansoo 416968-0997.

October is the Month of the Rosary...
Catholics honour Mary in a special way under the title "Our
Lady of the Rosary." Often we come together to pray the
rosary publicly, perhaps before daily Mass in our parish
churches. Each year we renew the prayer that has been such a
large part of the prayer life of believers for many centuries.
DAILY MASS ON VISION TV at 8 am & 12 noon

World Mission Sunday-2nd Collection...
Today, every Catholic community and parish throughout the
world takes part in World Mission Sunday. It is a global
effort to bring spiritual and material help to our brothers and
sisters who long for hope and love that comes from knowing
Christ’s love for them. Your kind support will assist all
missionaries across the world. It will help new churches to
grow, be strong and vital faith communities. Please continue
to pray for all those who serve in mission countries and
please be generous in your support of their work. May God
bless you always.
Part 1
The Year of Faith...
The Year of Faith is a Holy Year that
Pope Benedict declared beginning on
October 11, 2012 and ending on
November 24, 2013. In years past, we
have celebrated similar holy years
such as the Year of the Priest, the
Year of the Eucharist and the Year of
the Rosary. This particular Holy Year is about the gift of
faith, that gift by which we are enabled to believe in Jesus
Christ and His Church and so receive salvation.
The Holy Father introduced the Year of Faith in his
Apostolic Letter, Porta Fidei. Here he invites all the faithful
to open the “door of faith” (Acts 14:27), the door which was
first opened at Baptism, but which during the Year of Faith,
we are called to open again, walk through it, and renew our
relationship with Christ and his Church.
The Year of Faith is a time of grace, and we are invited to
focus our attention particularly on the Word of God in the
Scriptures and on the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist,
which is the very source of our Faith. We are also asked to
deepen our knowledge of what we believe by studying the
Catechism of the Catholic Church and the documents of
Vatican II.
Our Holy Father expresses his hope that this Holy Year will
“arouse in every believer the aspiration to profess the faith in
fullness and with renewed conviction, with confidence and
hope”. (Porta Fidei: 9)
Holy Name of Mary College School, Open House... 2241
Mississauga Road, Mississauga - Oct. 27, 2012. For girl’s
learning from grades 5 to 12. We invite you to take a closer
look inside our school at our Open House on October 27th,
from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. For more information go to
www.InspireYourDaughter.com or call 905-891-1890.
On the Lighter Side: A Sunday school teacher asked the
children one day, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in
church?" One bright little girl replied, "Because people are
sleeping."
Provide-A-Meal... Next weekend, Oct.
27/28th will be the collection of your chili
donations to the Good Shepherd. Thank you
again for your generous support.

and returned to the Church.
50th Year of Ordination for Fr. Jim Tobin... A
2013 Calendar about Fr. Tobin has been created to fund-raise
in celebration of his 50th Anniversary of Ordination. We are
looking for a volunteer who may like to coordinate selling
them here at our parish. Please call the office if you are
interested.
Candy Collection... We are asking the
children to donate some of the candy they receive
on Halloween for children in the Third World. To
these children, it could mean the difference
between life and death. Malnourishment stops the
digestive system from working. The sugar in the candy helps
the digestive system to re-start, thus saving the child. We are
asking for hard candy (anything that will not melt in a
Container) - NO CHOCOLATE PLEASE. This will be
collected through our schools beginning , Nov. 1st and at the
church the weekends of November 3/4. To be distributed by
Canadian Food For Children, Dr. Andrew Simone.
Remembrance Day Service...
On this day, we stop and remember all those who
have lost their lives in war. The Royal Canadian
