Enclosures include:
Father, All powerful and ever-living God,
Today we rejoice in the holy men and women
of every time and place.
May their prayers bring us your forgiveness
and love. We ask this in the name of Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.
All Souls Day – November 2
I offer You, my Saviour,
This prayer for the souls of my friends
and companions,
Through the Precious Blood which
You poured forth
upon the Cross, and through the
sorrows which Mary,
our tender Mother endured
at the foot of the Cross.
O good Jesus, have mercy on them!
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and
Let a perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.
Amen.

Striving for Excellence
In Flanders’ Fields
In Flanders’ Field the poppies blow,
Between the crosses row on row.
That mark our place and in the sky,
The larks still bravely singing fly.
Scarce heard amidst the guns below.
We are the dead.
Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow.
Loved and were loved, and now lie in
Flanders’ Fields.
Take up our quarrel with our foe,
To you from falling hands we throw,
The torch – be yours to hold it high;
If ye break faith with us who die.
We shall not sleep though poppies grow
in Flanders’ Fields.
Remembrance Day Service
On Wednesday, November 11 at 10:45 a.m.
our Remembrance Day Service will be held
in our gym. All are welcome. Poppies are
available in the office for a small donation.
November Virtue – Conscience /
Everyone Needs to Learn to Live in
Peace
This month we will focus on the Virtue of
Conscience. God has given us the ability to
know the right and decent way to act and
then to act that way. We trust that the
common Spirit we share inspires us and
guides us to make good decisions if we allow
are conscience to be well informed. This
includes: cooperation, forgiveness and
peacefulness.
A person of conscience…
 Chooses to do the “right thing” and
feels good about it
A person of conscience (continued)…
 Chooses to do the “right thing” and feels good
about it
 Can see how his / her actions may hurt others
 Admits his / her wrong-doing and feels badly
 Says “sorry” and tries to make up for mistakes
 Keeps promises
We appreciate your support in discussing this Virtue with your
child and encouraging behaviours that demonstrate it.
Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week (continued):
Our Virtues program reminds us daily that we are connected as
a community and strive to bring out the best in each other on a
daily basis.

ShareLife Spirit Week
c) Eco Angels: Shepherds of a Greener Earth
Our Eco-Team has been doing a great job continuing what we
started last year and starting new initiatives for this year. We
are promoting care for the Earth and environment that God has
given us.
To achieve our GOLD certification last year, we focused on
energy consumption, proper recycling and paper use reduction.
This year, we will continue those past practices while also
including a stronger emphasis on the benefits of walking to
school and a campaign to promote reusable water bottles.
The St. Clare Eco-Team is beginning a campaign to minimize
disposable water bottle use at the school. Students are
encouraged to use reusable water bottles everyday. Students
are discouraged to bring disposable plastic water bottles to
school. The Green Team will be monitoring how many students
are remembering to use reusable drink containers on a daily
basis. We can make a difference. An Eco-School is Eco-Cool!
Mr. Murphy, Mrs. Barlow, Mrs. Grattan and Mrs. Brady would
like to thank all of the students for their ongoing participation in
our ECO initiatives. We can all do our part to keep the world
green.
As one of our Student Council initiatives for this year, Spirit
Week will begin on Monday, November 23 to Friday, November
27.
 Monday November 23 – Crazy Hat / Hair Day
 Tuesday November 24 – Jersey Day
 Wednesday November 25– Twin Day
 Thursday November 26 – Pyjama Day
 Friday November 27 – Neon Day
A reminder will be sent home at a later date.
Safe School Initiatives
Before School Hours Supervision
For your child’s safety, we request that he/she not be on school
property until supervision begins at 8:15 a.m. This is when
supervision begins.
Visitors to the School
By law, ALL visitors to the school must report to the main office
using the doorbell for entry as all doors are locked. Our first
priority for all students is their safety. Board and Provincial
guidelines clearly outline the process that all visitors must follow
upon their arrival on school property, which begins with reporting
to the Main Office. You will be issued a Visitor Sticker, which
must be worn visibly during your stay and sign in and sign out.
Attendance and Punctuality
All students are expected to attend school regularly and
punctually. In the event that your child will be late or absent,
please call the school and leave a message. This can be done
24 hours a day. For students who are absent and for whom a
call is not received, we will attempt to contact you.
PLEASE CALL: 905-820-2227 Press # 1
All students who arrive after 8:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. must

Reminders and Resources: Cold and Flu Season
As cold and flu season approaches, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic
District School Board continues to be vigilant in ensuring that
our schools are clean and that our school communities are
educated regarding good hand hygiene and cough
etiquette. These practices are promoted on an ongoing basis,
but as the prevalence of colds and flu increases, our board
increases the cleaning of contact surfaces, as well as reminds
schools to review cold and flu prevention with students and
staff. Many resources are utilized from our regional health units.
Please assist us by reviewing good hand washing procedures, as
well as other preventative measures, as outlined in the various
Peel Health and Wellington Dufferin Guelph (WDG)
resources available to you through their websites. As always,
children who are unwell, should be kept at home.
