MAY – CELEBRATION OF MARY
MAY VIRTUE - ACCEPTANCE
Our Dear Mother Mary
Mary, Virgin Mother of Jesus,
our dear Mother, too.
We give ourselves to you,
that you may protect us
and guide us to Jesus, your Son.
Keep us from all sin
that we may love Jesus
with a pure love
as you always did.
May we always enjoy
the help of your prayers,
for you bring us life and salvation
through Jesus Christ your Son.
Amen!
The virtue of acceptance describes our ability to
look at the attitudes and actions of those around
us and then just stop and consider without
judging them. The virtue of acceptance means
that we look beyond what we see—a person’s
skin colour, ethnic background, religion, age,
gender, sexual orientation, and see a person
created and loved by God.
An accepting person…
 Is friendly and open to all God’s people,
regardless of age, beliefs, gender, culture or ability
 Sees the positive traits in all people even if s/he
disagrees with them
 Avoids judging or stereotyping others
 Understands that there may be more than one way
to do things
Mother’s Day
Sunday, May 11, 2014
Each year on Mother’s Day we celebrate mothers who have
brought us into life and have loved and cared for us.
There are so many mothers to honour – grandmothers,
godmothers, adoptive mothers, stepmothers, foster mothers and
friends’ mothers. There is Mary, the Mother of God. She is the
mother of all people.

Safe Schools Procedures for Lunch
As part of our safe schools procedures in September we
established with parent/guardians where their child is
expected to eat lunch during the school week. If your child
normally stays at school for lunch, we require parental
permission in the form of a letter allowing your child to
leave the school premises to eat lunch outside of school
property. Letters of permission from parents must be
handed to the classroom teacher in the morning so this
information can also be communicated to office staff.
Students are not allowed to call home to ask permission to
leave school property during lunch time. If a student
forgets their lunch, we contact parents to make
arrangements to have lunch provided or sent to the school.
We have also been noticing a large amount of students
waiting in the front foyer between the entrance doors for
their parents to drop off their lunch. This has been a safety
concern as students are running out the door to vehicles
stopped in our bus loading zone and they are also opening
the door to visitors which defeats the purpose of our
security entrance system. Please review these rules with
your children. Thank you for your cooperation in this
matter.
Class List Formation for 2014-2015
In preparation for the new school year, we will soon
begin to look at class placements. Although class
placements will not be final until mid-September at the
earliest, it is necessary to start our class organization
with sufficient time for determining staffing, materials and
equipment needs. We consider a number of criteria when
determining our class lists, e.g. academic strengths, needs
and overall achievement, individual work habits and
study skills, maturity, and placement history. We do our
best to ensure that classes provide a balanced learning
environment for our students. However, for a number of
reasons, we are at times limited in our placement options
We ask that you do not make requests for specific
teachers as teacher placements may change if we are
required to re-organize. However, we do appreciate your
input concerning your child’s unique needs. If you have
specific concerns about you’re his/her placement in
September 2014, we ask that you put these concerns in
writing to the Principal – Mr. Dolan. Please include the
following information about your child:
his or her strengths and/or needs
a description of his/her learning style
the type of learning environment in which your child
has experienced the most success
Please keep in mind that it is not always possible to
respond to your requests regarding placement in general,
and more specifically in combined (split) classes. We
therefore ask for your understanding and flexibility in this
area.
Rest assured that our decisions are made only after
careful consideration of all available information are
based on the individual good of each child, balanced with
the common good of the entire school community.
Are You Moving?
Please let us know as soon as possible if you are planning
on moving to a new location and your children will not be
returning to Father Clair Tipping for the 2014-2015 school
year. This information will help us with our planning for
next year. Thank you.
FCT Celebrates Diversity!
Several of our Grade 7 students will be participating in our
annual Family of Schools Diversity Conference on
Thursday, May 8th at St. Marguerite d’Youville S.S. This
conference celebrates our diversity and promotes inclusion
and peace. Our students will have the opportunity to see
presentations from other schools and guest presenters.

helped organize this very special event for our students.
