Mclauchlan Parish St. Marguerite d’Youville O God of all beginnings and endings, We praise and thank you for the gift of this school year. It has been a time filled with grace and blessings, with challenges and opportunities, joys and sorrows. The days have passed quickly, O Lord. The weeks, the months, the seasons, the holidays and holy days, the exams, vacations, breaks, and assemblies, all have come forth from your hand. While we trust that your purposes have always been at work each day, sometimes it has seemed difficult to understand and appreciate just what you have been up to in our school. Give us the rest and refreshment we need this summer. Let our efforts of this past year bear fruit. Bring all of our plans to a joyful conclusion, and bless us, according to your will, Pastor Father P. May we continue to grow in age, wisdom, knowledge and grace all the days of our lives. Amen End of Year School Mass Change of Date! FRIDAY, JUNE 14th 2013 St. Marguerite d’Youville Church @ 1:15 p.m. All parents are welcome. Virtues Education This month we celebrate the virtue of fairness. God wants us to treat each person as we would like to be treated. Fairness is the ability to be open minded and act in a just and fair way. Fairness allows us to treat others with mercy and compassion and to feel and act with and for another person. People of fairness… Treat others as they would like to be treated. Refuse to bend the truth or twist rules for personal gain. Listen for God’s advice before forming opinions. Think W.W.J.D. when faced with moral choices. (What Would Jesus Do) Show good sportsmanship. Know that relationships are more important than possessions or popularity. Give special consideration to those who need extra support. Work to bring about peaceful solutions to problems. Cheer on the successes of others. Page 2 of 4 Good Shepherd Catholic School Graduation Mass Our Grade 8 students will celebrate their Graduation Mass and Ceremony on Monday, June 24th at St. Marguerite d’Youville Church at 7:00 pm. As another school year approaches an end we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge a number of staff members that will not be part of the Good Shepherd community next year. We would like to say goodbye to Ms Lima and Mrs Bailey who spent the year with us covering for Ms Keen and Ms Gabil who were off on maternity. Good luck in all your future endeavors. We are also saying goodbye to Ms Chan, Mrs Schiavi, Ms Villamagna, Ms Mulready, and Ms Keen who will be at new schools in September. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to the students of Good Shepherd. All of your contributions over the years create a positive community for staff and students. We know that you will make a difference in your new school communities and continue to be positive influences on the children that you teach. We also bid farewell to Mr. Roul who was only here for two years as Vice Principal. He has been assigned to St John the Baptist starting in the new school year. We wish him well as he embarks on this new journey. Opening Day Procedures As has been the pattern in past years, we will continue to register students during the last week of August and into September. Therefore, class lists will not be finalized at this time and students will be told who their teacher is on the first day of school. We will be posting class lists in the gymnasium on September 3, 2013. The school doors will be opened at 8:30 a.m. Parents are invited to check the class lists in the gym and then take their child to class. J.K. students will have a staggered entry to school. Parents will be contacted prior to school commencing to schedule a date and time to meet with their child’s teacher. The school office will be open starting on Monday, August 26. Bus lists will be posted on the front doors the last week of August. Students who rode the bus this year, using the Courtesy Seat Policy, will need to request to ride the bus in writing once again, in September. Another Year Ends…. As the school year is nearing its end we would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all the members of the Good Shepherd School community for working together to make our school the best it can be. To the staff, whose energy, dedication and commitment have provided countless opportunities for students to grow academically, spiritually, physically and emotionally. Thank you to our School Council members and parent volunteers who endlessly offered their time and energy for the benefit of the Good Shepherd community. Your support and leadership has truly made a difference. Thank you to Father Pat and Father Steve and the d’Youville Church staff who provided us with spiritual direction. Thank you for guiding our students, in particular those students who celebrated sacraments, in their faith journey. As a result of this team effort, the lives of the students of Good Shepherd have been enriched. We would also like to acknowledge our students who have volunteered during the year on a consistent basis in helping other Good Shepherd students. All of your efforts are true examples of what giving to others is all about. May the Lord bless all of you and keep you safe throughout the summer holidays.
