FINAL CULMINATING ACTIVITY
INTRODUCTION
Now that you have become an expert on the business software applications that we have learned this
semester, it’s time to put your skills to the test. For this assignment you are going to apply your
researching skills, your Excel skills, your Publisher skills and your website design skills to create a
portfolio on a company of your choice.
TASKS
1. Using Internet Explorer, you will research the World Wide Web and gather relevant information
about a company of your choice. Your research will need to include the following details about the
company:






The history of the company
The company’s headquarters
Some of the key people running the company
The products and/or services the company sells
The company logo and brand
Past and present sales figures
2. Using Microsoft Word, you will document all the relevant information you have
gathered.
3. Using Microsoft Publisher, you will create a 3-panel, 2-page brochure that promotes
the company and some of the major products and services the company sells.
4. Using Microsoft Excel, you will create a spreadsheet and graph sales that compares
sales figures over the last five (5) years. If this information is not available, you can
graph the company’s stock value or price over the last five (5) years. You can find data
on most companies from Yahoo’s Finance website: http://finance.yahoo.com/charts.
The following spreadsheet and graph, for example, illustrates the stock price for Rogers
Communications Inc. over the last five years:

5. Using Notepad, you will create a web page using HMTL which will highlight the
information you found about the company. Your web page must include links for the
following topics about your company:






About Us
History
Products and Services
Investor Relations
Contact Us
References
You may want to include frames in your web page where you have your links to the different topics
on one frame and the content for each topic on a separate frame. Alternatively, you may just want to
have all your information on one page and create links at the top of the page that links to the
different sections on your page. It’s entirely up to you! Be creative!
EVALUATION
