PLANT OPERATIONS WEB CONTENT MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES POLICY: PLANT OPERATIONS WEB CONTENT MANAGEMENT PROCEDURE Issued: November 15, 2010 PURPOSE: The Plant Operations (Plant Ops) Web Content Management Initiative aims to implement a system to support the information management of Web content on the Plant Ops website while promoting compliance with UH standards for branding, accessibility and communications. These procedures provide the process of keeping the website content current and updated. POLICY GUIDELINES: The Plant Ops IT (POIT) department is responsible for managing all of the technology resources associated with the website, including software, servers, and hosting services as well as the site technical design and navigation architecture. Khanh Hodges serves in this role of the Plant Ops web developer. Content management is distributed and is the responsibility of the designated staff member (see content manager list below). All website content is subject to review and approval by the Executive Director of Facilities Planning and Construction and the Executive Director for Facilities Management. A Content Manager will be designated as the responsible party for website content management for Plant Ops as indicated in the table below. The content manage will insure that the assigned content is current and accurate by reviewing the content monthly at a minimum. The content manager will review the designated website content monthly to verify that information is accurate and up-to-date. Revised and updated content will be due to the Web Developer (Khanh Hodges) th every month on the 15 . The content manager will develop or collect new information as required for the assigned section. The content manager will provide feedback on website content to the executive directors and the web developer. The content manager will review and determine which changes require review by other stakeholders before forwarding to the web developer for implementation. The content manager will also be responsible for all the communication with impacted stakeholders – internal and external parties on any proposed changes the website. The content manager will be responsible for the appropriate content approval from the Director/Principal Project Managers and Executive Directors as needed. The approval must be granted prior to forwarding to the web developer for implementation. The content manager will be responsible to periodically query the staff as to any needed changes to the website. Plant Operations Plant Operations Web Content Management Procedures Page 2 of 3 PLANT OPERATIONS WEB CONTENT MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES Web Developer Responsibilities: • • • The web developer is responsible for the cohesive organization and smooth functioning of the entire Plant Ops website including maintaining all the technical functionality and all links in the website. The web developer also solves web problems, both technical and aesthetic, and provides advice and training concerning UH web standards, design, and software. The web developer is responsible for posting all changes requested by the content managers. The web developer will notify content managers when changes have been completed and posted. Content managers should only forward approved changes to the posted on the website. All Staff Responsibilities: • All Plant Ops staff members should communicate with their content manager suggestions for improvements or additional information they think would be useful to the University of Houston community and vendors.
