Priests’ Visits
Father Joseph will be visiting the school throughout the school year.
Religious Education, through liturgies, catechism,
daily prayer, the sacraments and good works,
creates a Christian atmosphere, which permeates
our school community.
Students are provided with the opportunities to
achieve success in the basic skills, concepts and
attitudes. These opportunities will allow them to be
lifelong learners. The school must be a safe place
that nurtures learning. Self-esteem is crucial to the
healthy development of each child.
We believe that children can learn and that failure
is only a starting point for further learning. An
orderly, focused school atmosphere provides the
framework for self directed learning. Promotion of
a friendly interchange among students and adults
will lead to mutual understanding and harmony
within the school community.
We believe that the child, as learner, is the central
focus of all our endeavors. We recognize that we
all have special gifts and talents to share.

Liturgical Celebrations
Liturgical Celebration is a way of responding to life,
and when life is recognized as a gift from God, it is a
way of responding to Him.
There are five liturgical seasons throughout the year.
These seasons celebrate Jesus’ life, death and
resurrection. The liturgical seasons and corresponding
colours for linens are: Advent (purple), Christmas and
Epiphany (white), Lent (purple), Easter (white) and
Ordinary Time (green). School liturgies are planned in
a collaborative spirit of community
to follow the Liturgical calendar.
Sacramental
Preparation
School, Church and Home work together preparing
students to receive the sacraments.
Prayer
Prayer is an essential component in experiencing
God’s presence and in developing a relationship with
God and Mary. Various forms of prayer are used in
class, and during liturgies:
 Scripture, song and mediation as prayer
 Daily prayer in class and on Public Address
System in the morning (formal / informal /
scripture / student generated)
Signs/Symbols of our Faith
Visual signs and symbols are displayed
throughout the school as reminders of our
Catholic beliefs and traditions - at office, front
foyer, halls and in the classrooms.
Faith Principles Inherent in the Mission
of Catholic Education




Catholic Education is rooted in the person of Jesus
Religious Education and faith formation are rooted
in a biblical spirituality and Catholic tradition
The spiritual dimension of the person is an essential
factor in every person’s education
The partnership of family, church and school is
essential to Catholic education
The faith journey is formative in developing a deeper
relationship with Jesus.
Our relationship with God deepens as we come to know
Jesus, His Son in our lives – by the Word of the Lord and by
our tradition, thus being transformed as God’s children.

Adult Faith Formation
School Priorities 2015-2016
The priority for this year will be Catholic Virtue Formation and
Catholic Grraduate Expectations. A virtue is a habit or established
capacity to perform good actions according to the moral standards
reflected in the gospel. A catholic school is the ideal place to
practice and prepare to live a virtuous life, following the example of
Jesus. Each month we will look at developing the virtues and
Catholic Graduate Expectations.
Faith, Empathy, Conscience, Hope, Self-Control, Respect,
Kindness, Love, Acceptance, and Fairness.
When we act out these virtues, we are making the presence of God
visible in the world.
Opportunities for Adult faith development are support and
facilitated throughout the year.
Board and Family liturgical events include: Ambassador
Gatherings, Masses, Retreats Festival of Light and Seder
Meals.
Student Faith Formation
Opportunities for student faith development are also
supported throughout the year with our Virtues recognition
assemblies, I Can Make a Difference, WinIts, and Youth
Faith Ambassadors.
