Happy Tuesday! We hope everyone had a great weekend! The weather sure was fantastic! Checkout the attached list of Apps! Maybe there is a good fit one for you and your children! As usual, homework for this week was sent home on Friday. We usually do a WTW speed sort to start out the week, so thank you for diligently getting the sorts cut and into the containers. This week is the last week of spelling for new words. Oct. 23rd and 29th (Thursday) are review weeks. Each LZ 95 first grader is expected to read and spell the words on the orange sheet for the first trimester. Reading: We are wrapping up the Launching unit for our reading series. We have explored fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. The rest of the year will be a more in depth study of each of those genres. A common thread through out all the genre studies is that readers need to THINK about what they are reading. Just saying the words is not enough. Have your first grade reader tell you about a book while he/she is reading! Math: We have started non-standard measurement. Writing: We will be starting to write a personal narrative. Science: Our study of rocks continues… Have a great week!
