• The Bachelor of Commerce is an internationally recognised qualification.
The part-time Bachelor of Commerce is a four-year
Online programme; a Diploma in Business is awarded
upon the successful completion of the first two years.
• The programme is delivered using Blackboard Collaborate which is
an online collaboration platform which provides a web conferencing
interface. The highly responsive audio and video features along with
the instant chat and interactive white board features creates a real time
environment for all users. Blackboard Collaborate has a streamlined user
interface which is very intuitive for all users.
The programme content reflects changes in business,
management and the economy.
This programme may be for you if you are:
• interested in exploring the fundamentals and
dynamics of business
• wish to progress within your chosen field or
move towards a different area of business
• a manager who would like to develop your
professional knowledge and skills, or an
entrepreneur who wishes to establish their
own business
Most of our students have already started a career in
business or hope to in the future. Our graduates are
highly successful and go on to work in a wide variety
of careers in business. They also go on to select from a
range of postgraduate programmes in NUI Galway or
further afield.
• It is delivered in an innovative way, which is ideally suited to adult
learners.
• We use Blackboard at NUI Galway for course work. It allows students
to download lecture notes, reading lists, assessment information and
other course-related material from their Blackboard sites. It also contains
functions that enable students to interact via class announcements,
email, discussion boards. It’s easy to upload any materials (e.g. Word
files, PowerPoint slides, PDFs, etc) and to create simple quizzes, arrange
for electronic submission of course work by students, establish online
discussion areas, etc.
• Students are assigned to study groups, which can be an invaluable source
of learning and support on individual and group projects.
• The Contemporary Management Thought module, delivered in 1st year,
is designed to develop the time-management, study, research, writing
and online skills needed by students working towards a third-level
qualification.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should have a minimum of
pass Mathematics at Leaving Certificate
level or equivalent. Applicants who are 21 years or over can
matriculate on the basis of mature years
(i.e aged 21 or over by 1 January of the
year of entry).
Applicants who are under 21 years must
have satisfied the minimum matriculation
requirement of the University.

Applicants should note that IT skills
are not a prerequisite for entry to the
