PAR3O1 Bodyworks This course focuses on the development of a healthy lifestyle and participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that have the potential to engage students’ interest throughout their lives. Students will be encouraged to develop personal competence in a variety of movement skills and will be given opportunities to practice goal-setting, decision-making, social, and interpersonal skills. Students will develop their own personal fitness level and will help them to like and love the person that they are. Students taking PAR3O1 should be committed to daily vigorous activity and positive health behaviours! PAR3O1 Rhythm and Movement Assessment and Evaluation Evaluation Your achievement in this course will be evaluated throughout the semester and be reported under the following categories and weightings: Knowledge/Understanding Thinking and Inquiry Communication Application 20% 15% 15% 50% These achievement levels will account for 70% of your final grade. A final evaluation will comprise 30% of each student’s final grade. The final evaluation will take place in the last four weeks of the semester and during the exam period at the end of the semester. Assessment Along with the above evaluation, each student’s learning skills will be assessed throughout the semester. Each student will have opportunities to demonstrate, develop, and improve their: Readiness to participate Initiative Effort Social interaction Respect and support for themselves and others Attitudes and practices towards safety Enjoyment of physical activity A four point scale (excellent, good satisfactory, needs improvement) will be used to report the above learning skills under the following categories: Teamwork Organization Work habits Initiative Works independently Collaboration Self-Regulation
