APL’s work in counterterrorism and counterproliferation covers a wide variety of activities, including those represented here. Clockwise from upper two images: The APL Chemical and Biological Test and Evaluation Center enables simulant testing of samplers, sensors, and building countermeasure techniques. The WALEX process for the Hopkins Critical Event Preparedness and Response program brings key planners and stakeholders together in preparation for the medical response to a bioterrorism incident. Syndromic biosurveillance data are analyzed and geographic results are displayed to uncover early indications and warning of bioterrorism. Modeling, simulation, and field test analysis for the fate and transport of biological threats are under way for outdoor and indoor threat releases.
