Tuesday October 23rd, 2012

Josie welcomed all present. Meeting started @ 7:05 pm with prayer
Approval of Last
Meeting Minutes: Minutes from September 25th, 2012 proposed by Barb Carcary and
approved by Rita Malatesta.
Updates:
Student Council Report:
 Students planning for Halloween Spirit Week. A number of activities
planned including; bake sale, Fear Factor, door and pumpkin decorating
contests and the Haunted House.
 Semi – Formal is scheduled for Friday November 23rd at LeTreport. All
students are welcome. Tickets are $ 40.00.
Staff Rep Report:
 As per the Good News Report

o Remembrance Day service – November 9th
o Mid-Term Report Cards – November 15th
o Culture Shock – November 15th

Parish Rep Report:
 This is the Year of Faith as acclaimed by Pope Benedict
 Fr. Marc-André proposes that every Friday we offer Holy mass with the
priest and the people facing together toward the Lord
 Clergy appointments: Fr. Kim D’Souza (Associate Pastor) and Fr.
Terence Dias
 Veronica Pereira has joined pastoral team at St. Joseph’s Parish. She will
be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of pastoral activities at
UTM
 Rosary Apostolate is seeking volunteers to visit elementary schools to
pray the rosary with the children once a month
 Easier offertory options on Sundays by using PAG (pre-authorized giving)
 Human Family In Christ – sponsorship of a Bolivian child for one (1) year
of $ 180 or perhaps a hospital bed for $ 1,000 per year
 SVDP is looking for a washer and dryer to fill a request
 Knights of Columbus are hosting an All-U-Can-Eat pasta dinner at St.
Joseph’s parish on Saturday October 27th. All are welcome.
 Life Teen for those in Grades 9 – 12 meets every 2nd and 4th Friday of the
month from 6:30 – 8:30 pm
 CWL – White Ribbon Campaign. October 27th and 28th has been
designated WRAP (White Ribbon Against Pornography). We are
encouraged to sign the ribbon which is to be sent to our Member of
Parliament requesting government enforce anti-pornography laws.
 Winter clothing for our Iraqi family – in need as the cold weather
approaches. Jeff will address at school level as the boys are in
attendance at the school
Treasurer Report:
 Current account balance approximately $ 400.00
 Still awaiting PRO Grant funds
Fundraiser Rep Report:
 Nothing to report at the present time
OAPCE Rep Report:
 Nothing to report at the present time
Chair Report:
 Will discuss and prepare proposal for upcoming speakers
 Tabled to next months meeting
Principal Report:
 The school is moving into 21st century learning
 School has a total of 13 smart boards and looking to increase technology
 Introduced Christian Cepeda (teacher)
Presentation:
 Smart Technology by Christian Cepeda (Teacher)
 Meeting moved to classroom with smart board
 Christian gave a tutorial as to the many applications of the technology. He
demonstrated the technology and the advantages in the classroom
 Parents and council members participated in hands on lesson
 Programs can be catered to both junior and senior classes
 Last year school had one (1) smart board – currently has thirteen (13)
 Also included a five (5) ‘clicker’ sets for student participation and inter
action
 Christian addressed all questions from the group – very informative
