On average, undergraduates save 66 percent for
on-base courses and 51 percent for online courses.
Similarly, graduate students save at least 35
percent for on-base or online courses. With your
Armed Forces Tuition Assistance (TA) and/or the
Post 9/11 GI Bill, along with other programs offered
by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs,
Department of Defense, and the Department of

Institute (NUPI), within the National University
Division of Extended Learning, offers a Professional
Certificate in Marine Technology, an exciting and
rapidly expanding field that quenches your thirst
for adventure. The accelerated eight-month-long
program combines classroom lecture and hands-on
training utilizing state-of-the-art equipment in San
Diego, California. Complete this program and you’ll
receive your commercial diving certification so that
you can continue your professional growth or begin a

Marine Technology. Through a
balance of lecture and handson courses, you’ll develop the
skills and experience needed
in commercial diving, with
programs covering marine
technology, commercial diving,
dive medicine, and underwater
nondestructive testing and wet
welding.
Professional Certificate
in Marine Technology
NUPI’s Professional Certificate
in Marine Technology provides
you with the skills and
training you need to enter the
diverse field of commercial
diving. The program includes
immersion into surface supply
and SCUBA diving, in addition
to underwater work skills,
safety, and other knowledge
to become a professional
commercial diver, which gives
you the basic skills you need
for surface supplied air diving
and prepares you for further
study. Marine Technology II
comes next, improving your
skills with 20 weeks of study
in one of two concentrations
that offer advance training for
the major employment areas
of commercial diving. Available
concentrations include:
Diver Medic—Diving and
Hyperbaric Medicine
The MedTech concentration
prepares students in the
medical aspects of diving
and advanced training
in hyperbaric medicine.
Graduates gain certification
as an Advanced Diving Medical
Technician, qualified for work
as a “tender” or diver medic
on inland and offshore job
sites. This concentration
also qualifies you to take the
Emergency Medical Technician
– Basic (EMT-B) exam.

to attend National University
Virtual High School (NUVHS).
For students requiring
flexibility in their schedules
and those who prefer a
more “learner centered”
environment with
individualized instruction,
National University Virtual
High School offers the
premier high school online
learning experience.
NUHVS helps students
achieve academic
excellence by offering
courses that provide
an active, engaging and
cooperative learning
experience. Choose from
more than 90 online courses
that are available in a variety
of high school core subject,
elective, and Advanced
Placement courses. At
NUVHS, students can
complete a full semester of
a high school course in as
few as four or as many as 16
weeks on a full or part-time
basis allowing students to
improve their grade point
average or earn additional
credit towards high school
graduation or college
readiness.
The school features a
college preparatory-level
curriculum and offers
many of the same classes
students find in their public
or private high school
as well as courses that
may not be offered within
their school districts. All
coursework meets or
exceeds California and
national standards. Each
NUVHS course covers a
typical semester’s worth of
material, and students can
start both first and second
semester courses at any
time during the year.
Core courses offered
by NUVHS are approved
for certification by the
National Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA), and
all NUVHS Advanced
Placement courses
have been authorized by
the College Board. The
school also has “online
provider status” through
the University of California
