The twentieth meeting of the Fourteenth Senate was called to order by Paige Settles at 5:03pm on
March 22, 2016.
The minutes from last meeting were approved by unanimous consent.
Steve Hoyng, the Aramark Representative to WKU, addressed the senate about the renovation of the
Garrett Conference Center.
President- Jay Todd Richey: I am currently at the American-Israeli Policy Conference. The presidential
search committee panel will have a meeting on April 27th at 1:30pm at which students may inform the
committee of what qualities they would like to see in WKU’s next president.
Executive Vice President- Nolan Miles: If you are interested in running for EVP for next year, please see
me.
Administrative Vice President- Liz Koehler: I am sending out the final invitations for the 50th anniversary
event this week.
Chief of Staff- James Line: I will print out the election applications and have them available in the office
tomorrow. I will also send them out in an email. The elections will be held on the 18th and 19th of April.
The deadline will be on April 5th for elections applications—you can turn those in to the office.
Director of Public Relations- Sawyer Coffee: We will contact attendees to our 50th anniversary event for
a blurb about their SGA experiences. The video for the banquet is complete, and our videographer did a
wonderful job of it. I plan on launching it with the election applications. On April 18th we will host a
“Meet the Candidates” event in which students may ask candidates questions about their candidacy.
Director of Academic & Student Affairs- Barrett Greenwell: No report.
Director of Information Technology- Rachel Keightley: No report.
Speaker of the Senate- Paige Settles: No report.
Secretary of the Senate- Cole McDowell: No report.
Academic Affairs- Kate Hart: No report.
Campus Improvements- Zach Jones: Campus Improvements is sponsoring sexual assault awareness
month.
Legislative Research- Megan Skaggs: We are currently looking at research on suicide awareness at
college campuses. We plan on applying for a grant to help promote suicide awareness at our campus
and explore means to address suicide among college students.
Public Relations- Madison Keller: Please write blurbs for me about your experience in SGA for our 50th
anniversary event.
Student Affairs- Temple Ricke: We just received fliers with information about our summer term
scholarships.
MyCampusToo- Hannah Neeper: We are having another forum about the inclusion of LGBTQIA
students, so please try to attend if you can.
Sustainability- Chelsea Faught:
University Committee Reports:
Judicial Council Report: The Chief Justice reviewed the new election codes for the senate.
The senate’s approval of the election codes was postponed until next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned by unanimous consent at 6:09pm.
