The twelfth meeting of the Fourteenth Senate was called to order by Paige Settles at 5:00pm on November 17, 2015. The minutes from last meeting were approved by unanimous consent. President- Jay Todd Richey: The listening tour last week was a tremendous success. Please read my email to see the specific needs of our regional campuses. One of the huge problems for the Fort Knox campus is that they do not have a Veterans Affairs representative. I have had a great time meeting with you all personally, and I want you to know that I do not want this organization to ever be stagnant. We have had two senators resign. Executive Vice President- Nolan Miles: If you are a student representative on a university committee PLEASE attend your meeting! These committees cannot have meetings without a student representative present, and if I get an email directly from a committee chair that students aren’t showing up to their committees, that reflects very poorly on SGA. Administrative Vice President- Liz Koehler: No report. Chief of Staff- James Line: Please keep in mind the regional campuses as you proceed with your legislation. Director of Public Relations- Sawyer Coffee: No report. Director of Academic & Student Affairs- Barrett Greenwell: This week, I will be drafting emails to notify scholarship applicants of their status. Director of Information Technology- Rachel Keightley: No report. Speaker of the Senate- Paige Settles: Secretary of the Senate- Cole McDowell: Academic Affairs- Kate Hart: We will be grading applications afterwards if you would like to help! Campus Improvements- Zach Jones: We will have a meeting after senate! Legislative Research- Megan Skaggs: I will be hosting a workshop soon about how to write bills and resolutions. Public Relations- Madison Keller: I would like to develop an official hashtag for SGA on social media. Student Affairs- Temple Ricke: No report. Cultural & Diversity Affairs- Hannah Neeper: Today is the first day of the international student forums that SGA will be hosting. These represent an ongoing conversation between international students and SGA members to demonstrate our solidarity. The forum should last about an hour. Tomorrow at 7 we will host a forum on the Syrian refugee crisis. We will show a short documentary, host a few speakers, and have a Q & A session. We will also be hosting an international talent show next semester. As for our 50th anniversary, Nathan Cherry held a meeting with Aramark today to set up an event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of SGA. Sustainability- Chelsea Faught: The Office of Sustainability is currently hosting a canned food drive, so please bring those to the office to donate if you have them. We will also be holding an herbal workshop around finals week. Dining services will be at our meeting on December 3rd, and we can hear about what they are doing to promote sustainability. University Committee Reports: Bowling Green Fairness: Thanks to everyone who has supported the committee for their efforts at the city commission meeting tonight. University Safety: We discussed how to train faculty to prepare for situations in which gun violence may occur on campus. Colonnade Committee: The committee is currently exploring ways to avoid a bottleneck of Colonnade Connections courses in the coming years. Judicial Council Report: Resolution 6-15-F Passed by Unanimous consent. Bill 10-15-F Passed by unanimous consent. Ashley Cox was appointed to the senate by President Richey, and was approved to the senate by unanimous consent. The meeting was adjourned by unanimous consent at 6:02pm.
