This Hand I Hold
This hand I hold I touch
it now
For all eternity,
And the knowledge that I
share I give from me to
you.
In hope that all you do
and say
Reflects the lessons
learned,
And all the awards that
you receive
Are ones that you have
earned.
I am your present
teacher
And your true friend,
But when the year is
over
My thoughts of you
won’t end.
For in my dearest memory
Forever you will be,
And when you go I hope
that you
Will take a part of me.
This hand I hold I touch
it now
For all eternity,
And the knowledge that I
share
I give from me to you.
Here is a picture that you
can treasure.
Teaching you has been a
pleasure!
The year now ends, and
we must part,
Always know you are in
my heart!

Community”
This month we celebrate the virtue of fairness.
Let us pray for the virtue of fairness, the desire to live by the
rules of God’s kingdom everday of our lives.
A FAIR person:
 Listens to all sides before foming opinions
 Shows good sportsmanship at all times
 Knows that the same rules apply to everyone
 Refuses to twist rules to avoid consequences
 Works to bring about peaceful solutions to problems
 Cheers on the successes of others
 Can balance their own rights and responsibilites with those
of others.

SCHOOL COUNCIL READ-ATHON
We would like to congratulate all of our students
and families who contributed so generously towards our Read-A-Thon. With your generosity and
our students great reading, we have a bookworm
that travels throughout the school and have raised
over $5,000.00. Much of the funds will be donated
to Ataguttaaluk High School in Iglooik, Nunavut to
support their literacy program.
GOODBYE
We say a sad goodbye to Mrs Doria who was on
short term contract this year, and Mlle Kaminski
who has accepted a position at another school for
September. We thank them for their valuable contributions to our school. Good luck to Mrs. Box
Hodgins who is on maternity leave next year.
CONGRATULATIONS AND FAREWELL
We congratulate Mrs. Barton on her appointment
as Principal of St. John The Baptist School in Bolton. Her new school community will be fortunate
to have her although we will miss her dedications
and many efforts on behalf of the students, staff
and community of St. Joachim.
VALUABLES
Spring is here; just a reminder that students should
NOT be bringing valuables to school, including
expensive games, iPods, cell phones, game boys
etc. Toys should NOT be brought to school to play
with outside. Only soft sports balls are allowed to
be used at recesses. NO softballs are allowed.

COLLECTING ALL BOOKS
June is the time we try and have all library books
and materials returned to the school. Most students
are very cooperative and return items on time and
in the same condition which they received them.
We will notify parents if their children have missing books. Students are aware that they are responsible for paying for any lost or damaged books.
Please help us by spring cleaning and returning any
library books to the school.
End of September. STOPR will not allow us to
allocate these seats until mid October. Just because you were granted a courtesy seat this year,
does not mean you will be granted one for October
2011. Regardless, parents need to make alternate transportation/walking/buddy/babysitter
arrangements for their child until mid October.
Paperwork will be sent home only with students
who have been granted the courtesy seat. Priority
is given to younger students, and usually spots are
available only for students up to grade 3. St.
Joachim is only eligible for Kindergarten busing
(one bus) so empseats are extremely limited.
Should you have any questions regarding busing,
please call STOPR at 905-890-0614.
TEXTBOOKS
Textbooks are school property and are loaned annually to students. Please remind your child to
search their room for missing texts and return to
the school. Parents will be held responsible for any
lost or damaged materials. Thanks for your help THINK RECYCLE

HEALTH ALERT-ANAPHYLAXIS POLICY
REMINDER
Just a reminder to parents who have students who
have medication in the office (epi-pen, puffers etc.)
that the medication will be going home with your
son/daughter on the last day of school, along
with board policy permission forms which must be
filled out by a doctor over the summer and returned
the first day back in September in order for us to
continue administering and storing the medication.
No medication can be stored or administered without the appropriate board forms signed by your
doctor. If you know your son or daughter will not
be attending school on the last day due to vacations, appointments etc., please let the office know
and we can send the forms and medication home
with them on their last day of attendance at school.
meracy. This program targets grade 7 and 8 students, identified by their principal, who would
benefit from remedial literacy and numeracy instruction, as well as ESL students. Registration
forms are available from the school. Bussing information will be available late in May. Please contact Mrs. Brownlee at St. Joachim School, if you
have any questions about summer school.

luncheon and dance will occur starting at 12:00
that afternoon. Please contact your child’s teacher

family mini-tournament. Congratulations go out to

A., Michael S., Kirk V., Jayson M., Damien D.,

coaches, Mrs. Box-Hodgins and Mrs. DiTosto.
END OF YEAR PARTIES
As end of year parties will soon be upon us, St.
Joachim would appreciate the co-operation of the
entire school community in NOT sending food
with nuts. Any food brought to school must be
NUT free, as well as free from specific allergies in
your child’s classroom. An ingredient list must be
attached. We encourage parents to bring in nonedible treats such as stickers, erasers, pencils, and
dollar store items. Students with anaphylactic allergies are encouraged to bring in their own treats
for special occasions. We look forward to your
understanding and co-operation in making our
school safe for all students.
PERMISSION TO LEAVE SCHOOL
As always, the safety of our students, is our number one priority at St. Joachim. In order to ensure
the whereabouts of students at all times, students
who stay for lunch, are not permitted to leave the
property at any time without a dated and signed
note from their parents informing the office that the
student is leaving the property for an appointment,
or other specific reason. Students also need to sign
in and out at the office. Students are NOT permitted at any time to leave the property to go to
Beckers, to go for a walk, or to go to another
student’s house for lunch. Thank you for helping
to keep our children safe!
