Our heritage can be expressed through the arts. Valentine’s Day and the Family Day weekend mean that winter is (slowly) nearing its end! A big thank you to everyone for attending our student led conferences this month! The grade 5’s worked very hard in preparation, and it was great to see them show off their accomplishments from term 1. As we head into term 2, students are advised to set new goals for the remainder of the school year. We have recently wrapped up our unit of inquiry entitled, “How the World Works”. Throughout this unit, students learned about different states of matter, and the properties of different materials. Students had the opportunity to show their learning through their culminating lapbook task. We were able to close out unit of inquiry with a great visit from our friends at Scientists in Schools. The students got to step into the role of scientists for the day, as they took part in many hands on experiments. Throughout the month of February, we will be working on a new unit of inquiry, entitled: How We Express Ourselves. In this unit, students will have the opportunity to explore Canada’s roots, as they study early First Nations and European communities.
