Reading- We have been working hard on our biography unit! The students have learned how to use timelines to help deepen their comprehension and understanding of what they read. They have also learned to infer character traits based on the actions that people have taken and what they believe in. We ended our biography unit by summarizing what we have learned about a famous person and taking a walk in their shoes. All of these skills will help your child while they are working on their wax museum project. Math- We wrapped up our area and perimeter unit last week. The students now understand the difference between area and perimeter and how to calculate them. This week we have been reviewing fractions. Writing- Our writers are continuing to work hard on their final copies of their fiction writing pieces. We definitely have some creative students in this class! They are looking forward to sharing their final copies with you! Science and Social Studies- Our historians are continuing to develop their understanding of the Great Migration and the civil rights movement. We have had some really interesting conversations on these topics! Wax Museum Info-All children have selected the person that they would like to research for the wax museum. They can begin their research at any point now! Keep in mind that the final project is due in class on April 18th. This includes the written and memorized speech, the Venn diagram, and references. Please, support your child in this area and have fun!
